In the Monday Thanksgiving speech, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor General Mary Simon expressed their thanks to frontline workers in all fields, most importantly healthcare.
"Today, Canadians across the country gather with their loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving and give thanks for the blessings of the past year.
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the harvest season. It's an opportunity to be there with each other and get to know people," Trudeau said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.
"Over the past two years, people have supported each other. As we recover from the pandemic, we extend our heartfelt thanks to countless volunteers, food banks, and charities who have lent a hand in making the world better.
We also thank the efforts of daily heroes, from healthcare workers to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and humanitarian workers, who all dedicate their lives to service and helping to change our world for the better."
