The White House said in a statement on Monday evening that the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing "mild symptoms."

Currently, Jill Biden will remain at her residence on Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, according to the White House's mentioned statement.

In another statement, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted that Biden's test result was negative in another COVID-19 test conducted the night after his wife's positive test result.

According to the White House spokesperson, the president will be tested regularly this week and will be on alert if symptoms appear.

Biden intends to travel to New Delhi on Thursday to participate in the G20 leaders' summit, which will be held from September 9 to 10, and from there he plans to head to Vietnam.
