The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed that thousands of children and women were martyred during the recent aggression on Gaza, explaining that the number of children martyred in Gaza is greater than any number in any conflict, adding "The people of Gaza are in an unprecedented humanitarian disaster."

During his speech before the United Nations Security Council session on the situation in the Gaza Strip today, Wednesday, the Secretary-General emphasized the sanctity of United Nations facilities in the Gaza Strip, explaining that more than 14,000 have been martyred since the beginning of the military operations in Gaza.

The Secretary-General pointed out that the use of destructive weapons in Gaza has greatly affected civilians, and he called for an extended humanitarian truce to allow more aid to enter the Gaza Strip, stressing that "the two-state solution must be implemented to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that we need a real ceasefire in Gaza."

Guterres demanded the protection of civilians and the non-targeting of United Nations facilities in Gaza, welcoming the truce agreement in Gaza, noting that 111 UN staff have been killed since the start of the aggression on Gaza. The Secretary-General confirmed that United Nations facilities shelter more than one million displaced people from the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations Secretary-General expressed his appreciation to the Egyptian government, which has made the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip a tangible reality."
