Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today, Thursday, with opposition party representatives regarding the war between Israel and Hamas and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, according to multiple sources for CTV News.
Trudeau met with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre in Nova Scotia, and Conservative MP and foreign affairs critic Michael Chong also attended the official opposition.
Also present at the meeting were Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet and New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh, who “pushed for a plan to get Canadians stranded in Gaza out,” according to a source familiar with the meetings.
The meeting comes four days after Singh sent a letter to Trudeau asking Canada to call for a ceasefire in the war that began after Hamas's sudden attack on Israel on October 7.
The Prime Minister instead called for a "humanitarian truce," hoping to allow much-needed medical supplies and aid to enter Gaza.
