Prime Minister "Scott Moe" issued a political document on Tuesday legalizing the government's position against what it considers federal interference in the provinces on the development of oil, gas, food, and fertilizers.

The document, entitled "Drawing the Line: Defending Saskatchewan's Economic Independence," outlines some potential tactics being considered by the provincial government, including a more independent immigration policy, developing a carbon credit market, and taking legal action against the federal government regarding carbon tax and emissions targets.

Federal climate change policies will cost the province an estimated $111 billion between 2023 and 2035, according to a regional government press release. "This cannot continue."

Moe said, "We cannot allow federal interference to continue in our exclusive constitutional right to develop our natural resources and grow our economy."

The document says that federal policies allegedly set to protect the environment will effectively hinder Saskatchewan's economy.

The Canadian constitution grants provinces the sole right to legislate concerning their natural resources, although there is a constitutional clause stating that in case of conflict between the authority of Parliament and the legislative assembly, Parliament prevails.
