The police are searching for a 67-year-old private tutor from Hamilton, Ontario, in connection with a series of sexual crimes committed against several children.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, York Regional Police (YRP) said they received reports from a group of parents on November 10 stating that their children were sexually assaulted during private tutoring sessions.
After investigation, the police learned that both families had hired the same private tutor for their children's home lessons in Richmond Hill. Officers say the three victims were under 16 years old, and a warrant has been issued for the suspect's arrest.
Alistair Martin Smith is charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference, but investigators have not been able to locate the suspect yet and believe he may have fled the country.
Police also believe there may be more victims and urge those with information to come forward.
Also, anyone with any information is asked to contact the YRP Victim Services Unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7071. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.1800222tips.com.
