Miles Sanderson was responsible for all 11 deaths during the mass stabbing incident in Saskatchewan last month, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The police said on Thursday that the evidence indicates that Damian Sanderson, the other suspect, is believed to have been killed by his brother Miles. Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore stated during a press conference on Thursday: "Miles Sanderson committed all the murders alone, bringing the total number of people killed by Miles Sanderson on September 4, 2022, to 11." Damian was initially charged with first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of break and enter, with Blackmore stating: "The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan believe it is important to clarify Damian's involvement in the sequence of these events to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to transparency towards the victims and their families." However, Blackmore added that the evidence suggests Damian was involved in the initial planning and preparation of the September 4 attacks. While there are indications of Damian's initial involvement, Blackmore said something may have changed once the attacks occurred. Also, Damian's body was found in a grassy area in the James Smith Cree territory on September 5, while Miles Sanderson died in police custody shortly after his arrest on September 7.
