A Flair Airlines plane carrying 134 passengers went off the runway in Waterloo on Friday morning.
The airline also stated that Flair Airlines F8 501 from Vancouver to Kitchener Waterloo "went off the runway" in the area of Waterloo International Airport after landing. Several videos posted on social media showed the plane, a Boeing 737 model, in what appeared to be a grassy field near the runway.
Also, Waterloo Regional Police told CP24 that one passenger was treated by paramedics at the scene for a "minor physical injury." No other injuries were reported.
The police also stated that "the area surrounding the airport is currently closed to traffic." Passengers disembarked from the plane and were transported to the building by bus, where a Flair Airlines spokesperson told CP24 that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew is their top priority.
The plane departed Vancouver late Thursday night and landed in Waterloo at around 6:25 a.m. At this stage, the cause of the plane going off the runway was unclear, as the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said it is deploying a team of investigators "to gather information and assess the incident."
Meanwhile, the airport said it will be closed to commercial traffic until the end of Friday.
