P.E.I. will provide free Thanksgiving meals to island residents who are still without power after more than two weeks since Fiona.
All reception centers in Tignish Shore, North Shore, West River, Kingston, Miltonvale Park, Clyde River, Morell, Resort Municipality, and Three Rivers will offer hot meals to residents who cannot enjoy the celebrations as usual due to outages.
Just over 4,200 Maritime Electric customers were without power on Monday morning compared to 9,000 on Friday afternoon as crews continued working through the long weekend. But the utility warned that some households on the island might not get power back until at least Friday. Meals will be available for pickup on Monday. Times and other details are available by contacting the local reception center or municipality directly. Contact information for some centers can be found online on the P.E.I.
government website, although not all are available to them. The North Shore municipality asked people on social media to register by 3:30 p.m. Saturday, with delivery from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the meeting room.
