The police arrested seven protesters from the "Rolling Thunder" rally in Ottawa after a small convoy of large excavators, campers, and other trucks tried to make their way to the Parliament building.
Ottawa police reported that 24 vehicles had been towed as of last night.
As of this morning, officers have issued 417 tickets and towed 30 vehicles.
It is worth mentioning that the protesters had arrived in the city yesterday afternoon as part of the "Rolling Thunder" rally, organized by Freedom Fighters Canada, a group dedicated to speaking out against COVID-19 mandates.
The protesters want to ride their motorcycles through downtown Ottawa today to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but the police are closing the streets leading to the heart of the city.
Meanwhile, O-C Transpo, the city's public transit agency, plans to increase staffing to support customers and ensure the safety of its employees.
