Canadian company Nutrien - the world's largest fertilizer producer - said on Thursday that it plans to increase potash production to 18 million tons by 2025, a 40% increase compared to 2020 levels, in response to uncertainty and disruptions regarding supplies from Eastern Europe.
Potash prices, one of the main inputs used in nitrogen fertilizers, have risen since Western sanctions were imposed on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, exacerbating an already tight market.
