Regina Fire and Protection Services (RFPS) reported at 11:37 AM on Sunday that a major explosion occurred at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Retallack Street.

In a social media post, RFPS reported there may be potential injuries. Police have also set up barriers around the area and asked people to stay away at this time.

A local resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told CTV News that she felt her entire house shake at the moment of the explosion. Windows in many homes in the area shattered following the incident. At least five fire trucks also responded to the explosion site.

The police stated that the power has been cut off in the area. Residents in neighborhoods near the explosion evacuated their homes while emergency crews continue to work.

Also, according to the police, crews will need to dig in a backyard near the damaged property to contain a gas leak.

SaskEnergy was unable to comment on the explosion or its cause at this time. However, a spokesperson for the organization confirmed that the organization is aware of the incident and is investigating it.
