The largest Islamic conference in Canada kicked off on Friday, with dozens of speakers participating in the presence of many Canadian politicians and an army of well-trained young volunteers from the Muslim community who exerted every effort to implement the plan to organize this major conference to present it in this honorable form.
It is worth mentioning that (RIS) is an annual Islamic conference usually held during the winter holiday season in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The first conference was held in 2001, and since then it has become one of the largest Islamic conferences in North America.
This year, the conference relied on a moderate Islamic discourse which can be described as high-quality in light of the challenges facing Muslim communities abroad.
The conference also affirmed the strong presence of the Islamic community in Canadian society.
It was also clear that the Muslim community has begun to become more cohesive, aware, and conscious of the challenges it faces, especially regarding the issue of Islamophobia.
On its second day — which was attended by more than twenty thousand members of the Muslim community — the conference presented many surprises and recommendations that received the blessing and approval of the attendees who interacted with these recommendations, especially the necessity to unify the voice and raise it loudly concerning the law legislated by the province of Quebec Bill - 21, which targets the hijab.
The conference also announced the intention to open an Islamic bank and issue credit cards alongside opening bank accounts.
The conference presented an impressive artistic panel confirming the great awareness enjoyed by the organizers of this conference, which in its twentieth edition appeared more organized and dazzling and heralds that the Muslim community is advancing forward with interaction and integration to emphasize that it has a lot it can do and that it is capable of offering much that preserves its identity and creed, while at the same time integrating into Canadian society without assimilation and abandoning identity and culture or allowing space for infringing on the creed.
On the other hand, Minister Ahmed Hussein participated with an intervention through which he conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the conference and affirmed that there is no place for Islamophobia in Canada.
Ahmed Hussein pointed to the necessity of unifying the efforts of the Muslim community to face the challenges of Islamophobia.
