King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid received today, Tuesday, at the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace in Rabat, the members of the national football team, after their outstanding performance in the FIFA World Cup - Qatar 2022.
The reception comes following the historic and unprecedented achievement by the Moroccan national team, which reached the semi-final stage, marking the first and most brilliant kind of success for Moroccan, Arab, and African football, in the finals of this global sporting event.
During this ceremony, King Mohammed VI decorated Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the national team coach Walid Regragui, and the national team players who were accompanied by their mothers, with royal decorations. Thus, His Majesty the King decorated both Fouzi Lekjaa and Walid Regragui with the Order of the Throne in the rank of Commander.
King Mohammed VI also decorated with the Order of the Throne in the rank of Officer the national team players, Mr. Ghanem Saiss, Yassine Bono, Achraf Hakimi, Nasser Mazraoui, Sofiane Amrabat, Nayef Akrad (graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy), Hakim Ziyech, and Aziz Bouhaddouz (graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy). The King also decorated, with the same order, Mr. Abderrazak Hamdallah, Anas Zrouri, Abdelhamid Sabiri, Munir El Kajoui, Ilyas Chaer, Zakaria Aboukhal, Selim Amallah, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Sofiane Boufal, Jawad El Yamiq, Youssef En-Nesyri (graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy), Achraf Dari, Walid Chadira, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti (graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy), Bilal El Khannous, Badr Banoun, Yahya Attiat Allah Idreesi, Yahya Jabrane.
At the same time, King Mohammed VI gave his high instructions to deliver royal decorations to all members of the technical and medical staff of the national team, in recognition of the exceptional work they provided.
The reception dedicated by King Mohammed VI to the players, who were accompanied by their mothers, is an honor to these Moroccan women who made sure to teach their children the principles of patriotism, sacrifice, and belonging to the homeland. It also expresses the special status the King grants to Moroccan women as a fundamental pillar of the family and society in general. The national team members arrived in their homeland on the evening of Tuesday, where the residents of Rabat, Salé, and other Moroccan cities gave them a warm and heartfelt welcome.
Thus, since their arrival at Rabat-Salé Airport, and along the road, the large crowds of supporters were keen to greet the Atlas Lions and praise their courage and fighting spirit in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
