The "bed bug" has spread in the Spanish capital, Madrid, amid a state of panic and anxiety, especially after its widespread occurrence in France in large numbers in public transport, cinemas, and hospitals.

The Spanish channel "Telediario de Madrid" reported on its website that bed bugs have also spread in the Spanish capital, and have widely proliferated in the Basque Country, Valencia, Zaragoza, as well as in Vallecas.

The channel revealed that there is a state of fear and panic among residents due to the rapid spread of the insect and the inability to control it, especially since they are small flat insects that can hide anywhere, sticking to travel bags, towels, or clothing, making them spread quickly.

A video circulated on social media showing a Spanish woman who was bitten by bed bugs while sleeping in one of the famous hotels in the capital of Aragon, saying about the bed bugs: "They literally devoured me; they put us in a hotel where the attack was like in a nightmare."

She added: "I woke up as if I had hives, but in the afternoon, my body began to feel intense itching, and at night I couldn't sleep because of the bites, so I went to the hospital and they gave me the necessary medication."

Experts confirmed that bed bugs have become a real problem in Spain, and that between January and September of this year, their prevalence increased by 71%, and pest control companies have been experiencing exhaustion due to the high demand for their services due to the spread of this insect.

Experts indicated that bed bugs reproduce rapidly, with a single female able to lay 700 others within 4 months, and they can spread via suitcase wheels, clothing, and even goods delivered to homes.
