Canadians planning to head out during the last long weekend of summer can expect to pay more for gasoline than they did last Labor Day.
The national average gasoline price as of today, Friday, is 1.67 cents per liter, according to GasBuddy.com, compared to 1.37 cents per liter on September 1, 2022.
Gasoline prices began to rise in July and August of this year, partly due to production cuts of crude oil by Saudi Arabia and Russia.
The benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude price hit a 12-month high on Friday, hovering around $85 a barrel.
This compares to last year when West Texas Intermediate crude was around $75 a barrel.
