A British man was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a Canadian teenager who moved to England last year to meet him. Essex police said in a statement that Jack Sibley will serve at least 23 and a half years in prison for killing Ashley Wadsworth from Vernon, originally from British Columbia. The police also stated that Wadsworth, 19 years old, was stabbed and strangled during an attack on her home on February 1. Earlier that day, the police said that two of the victim's friends received text messages indicating that Wadsworth needed help, followed by messages saying that everything was fine, which officials later determined were sent after her death. Wadsworth had met the perpetrator Sibley online, who later admitted to committing her murder last month. In a statement published by the police, her mother Christy Guideron said she was a beautiful, smart, and active young woman and that she cannot believe she will never see her again.
