Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today, Thursday, "David Cameron," the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary, in the presence of Samih Shoukry, Egypt's Foreign Minister, and Lord Tariq Ahmad, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa at the UK Foreign Office, in addition to the British Ambassador to Cairo "Gareth Bailey."

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, stated that Minister "Cameron" handed the President a letter from the British Prime Minister "Rishi Sunak" in which he congratulated the President on his re-election as the President of Egypt, confirming his country’s keenness to continue enhancing cooperation and coordination with Egypt in various fields.

The meeting addressed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, reviewing ongoing cooperation efforts in all areas, especially at the economic level, increasing joint investments and trade exchange, in a way that achieves the interests of the two peoples.

The official spokesperson added that the meeting discussed developments in the regional scene, where the UK Foreign Secretary expressed thanks and appreciation for the role of Egypt and the President in preserving security and stability in the region, as well as Egypt’s intensive efforts on the political and humanitarian tracks within the framework of the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

It was also agreed on the necessity of reaching a sustainable ceasefire and allowing relief aid in sufficient quantities to meet the humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza, which would put an end to the humanitarian tragedy in the Strip. The two sides also stressed the rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their lands and the importance of working to prevent the expansion of the circle of conflict and its extension to other areas in the region.

The President affirmed the necessity for the international community to undertake its responsibilities in implementing the decisions of the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, in addition to working earnestly and determinedly on a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue through enforcing the two-state solution.

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron said the "Egyptian-British" relations are important, confirming: "I am pleased to meet President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and congratulate him on his victory in the current presidential elections."

During his speech at a press conference with Samih Shoukry, broadcast on "Cairo News" satellite channel, Cameron added that Egypt is doing a great job through the Red Crescent organization, within the framework of aid it extends to Gaza, to alleviate the burdens on hospitals in Gaza.

He confirmed: "We always work on providing aid, and the situation in the region, especially Gaza, and the aid focused on since the start of the war on Gaza were discussed. We are working to confirm that since the start of the war on Gaza, the Rafah crossing has been open constantly to transfer aid to the people of Gaza, as well as the Jordan crossing that transfers aid, and the aid coming from Cyprus through British ships; we are working on everything necessary to help the people of Gaza on all levels."

Cameron said: "We are working to ensure the flow of aid to the Gaza Strip, and the amount of aid to the people of the Strip must be increased," adding that Britain has provided $75 million in aid to Gaza, and that we are working with Egypt to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza, and we must keep the crossings open to transfer aid to Gaza.

He continued: "We are talking about a Security Council resolution, and we are keen for it to be agreed upon. There is a need to push for aid and deliver it to the people with greater numbers, which we are trying to do to reach a unanimous decision in the Security Council."
