A liberal MP from Alberta accused the provincial premier of making false claims.
Calgary MLA George Chahal said Premier Danielle Smith is making false and baseless statements that are ridiculous regarding the federal liberal government's plans to bring Canada's electricity grid to net zero.
Chahal also said that Smith is creating fear among people for purely biased reasons, even calling on her to release the United Conservative Party's government report on electricity.
He added that electricity prices have increased fivefold since the United Conservative Party took power in Alberta.
For her part, Smith recently warned that federal energy regulations would lead to power outages and that non-compliant company executives could face jail time.
Smith also volunteered to appear before the House of Commons Environment and Sustainable Development Committee on Tuesday.
Smith's office did not immediately respond to Chahal's allegations.
