Former U.S. President Donald Trump is now in custody after arriving at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office following his departure from his residence at Trump Tower on Tuesday, where he was arrested and held by the police ahead of his upcoming trial.
Trump’s fingerprints are expected to be taken as part of the arrest, although it remains unclear whether a mugshot will be taken.
He will then be brought to the courthouse, where he will be presented for trial – an appearance expected to be quick and routine but representing a surreal and historic moment in U.S. history.
It is not expected that Trump’s hands will be restrained after his arrest, as he will remain under continuous law enforcement protection.
Trump had privately expressed interest in having his mugshot taken, while others said it was unlikely to happen once inside the Manhattan criminal courthouse, according to two sources.
On the other hand, former U.S. President Donald Trump considered his summons to appear before the judiciary on Tuesday a "surreal" event, in a case that has occupied the United States regarding the "purchase of silence" of the adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Trump said: My summons to appear before the judiciary seems "surreal," adding: "They will arrest me and I can't believe this is happening in America."

Before entering the court, Trump said in a tweet on the social media platform he founded, "Truth Social": "I can’t believe this is happening in America."
Despite the many cameras around his residence at Trump Tower in New York and around the Manhattan courthouse, they did not capture the moment of his departure or arrival at the court.
The White House indicated that Trump’s court appearance is not the focus of President Joe Biden, his opponent in the 2020 election, today, but noted that Biden might watch Trump’s court appearance later as part of his news monitoring.
At the same time, the White House emphasized preparedness for confronting any violence related to Trump’s court appearance.
Wide Interest
The Manhattan courthouse, which has been surrounded by extensive security deployment, attracts significant media attention. Local and international media documented, step by step, and mostly livestreamed, Trump’s journey from his Florida residence to New York on Monday.
Media tracked a motorcade carrying Trump from his New York residence to the Manhattan courthouse.
However, cameras will not be allowed inside the courtroom, as a judge decided so Monday evening, according to U.S. media.
The 76-year-old former Republican president, a candidate for the 2024 presidential election, was summoned to appear before the judge at 2:15 PM local time, to be informed of the charges against him.
This unprecedented event, which may have explosive political repercussions, raises security concerns as Trump supporters planned to demonstrate in New York, where the police are on high alert.
