The three daughters told Francesco Villi, the suspect in the killing of five people in the apartment building where he lives in a suburb of Toronto in Ontario last Sunday, that they cut ties with him because he was "aggressive," and he "constantly rejected their offer of help."
The three women also extended their condolences to the victims' families and expressed their deep sorrow for what happened. The statements of Villi's daughters came in a written statement issued by the Special Investigations Unit in Ontario on their behalf.
According to them, their 73-year-old father "had committed acts of domestic violence against them and their mothers in the past."
The daughters describe Francesco Villi as "a domineering and abusive husband and father," adding: "His behavior was aggressive. He had a Jekyll and Hyde personality," noting that the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" in Canadian slang refers to people with dual nature; they are very kind at times and very evil at others.
Also, the three girls, whose names were not mentioned in the statement, said "they have not been in contact with their father for more than five years, as this guarantees their health and well-being."
In a related news, a candlelight vigil was held for the souls of the victims of the shooting incident, in front of the Vaughan City Hall starting at 7:30 PM today, Wednesday, where the city mayor Stephen Del Duca delivered a speech in front of the crowd.
On another note, the police identified the victims of the shooting incident as: Rita Camilleri, Vittorio Panza, Russell Manouk, Helen Manouk, and Nevid Dada.
Also, Dorine Di Nino’s husband said that his wife is the sole survivor of the shooting and is still in the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery following her injury on the day of the incident.
