Hundreds of protesters at the University of the City of Lausanne in Switzerland came out, raising Palestinian flags and demonstrating in protest against Emmanuel Macron's visit to the university and because of his positions on the Palestinian issue.
The Belgian newspaper "Blik" mentioned that French President Emmanuel Macron was scheduled to speak with the President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset on Thursday morning at the University of Lausanne.
The local newspaper reported that the police fired gas at the pro-Palestinian protesters in front of the university after the demonstration got out of control at the University of Lausanne today, Thursday.
It also pointed out that the gathering included about 200 students at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) site to protest the arrival of the French President Emmanuel Macron to express their anger towards French support for Israel in the Middle East conflict.
"Blik" explained that the demonstration started from the Faculty of Arts and walked through the campus, where the French and Swiss presidents arrived at exactly 10:15 AM, noting that the students banged on pots and pans and chanted slogans while carrying Palestinian flags.
