"Meta," the parent company of the Facebook platform, released a "powerful translator" powered by artificial intelligence on Tuesday that can translate languages more easily, through text and voice.
"Meta" stated in a statement on its official website:
-SeamlessM4T- is the first integrated and multilingual model for translation and transcription using artificial intelligence.
This model can perform speech-to-text translation, speech-to-speech, text-to-speech, and text-to-text, for up to 100 languages.
The new translation engine will be released under a "Creative Commons" license, allowing researchers and developers to build on and develop this model.
We believe that the model we have released represents an important step forward in the world of translation.
SeamlessM4T reduces errors and delays, and increases the efficiency and quality of the translation process.
Speaking to the American site "Axios," Meta's research scientist, Paco Guzman, said:
"Seamless M4T" does not rely on intermediary translation engines.
This new model even supports quick language switching.
This will allow for better support for people who mix languages in their daily conversations.
