At least three Canadian provinces are preparing for a low-pressure system bringing heavy, wet snow.

Today, Thursday, Environment Canada issued weather warnings for the southern parts of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario due to a storm coming from the United States.

The same system is responsible for tornadoes across the central states where two people were killed. As the storm moves northward, it mixes with cold air resulting in a snow cover in Canada.

For his part, Kelsey McQueen, senior meteorologist at CTV Your Morning Today, said: "Because temperatures are very close to zero in all three regions, we will see heavy snowfall."

On Thursday and Friday, snowfall intensity is expected to increase in Saskatchewan and drop by 5 centimeters in Regina, Old Post, Wood Mountain, and Kilder.

Also, as the storm system moves eastward, parts of Manitoba could see up to 15 to 25 cm of snow, according to the winter storm warning from Environment Canada.

Northwestern Ontario is also expected to receive 15 to 25 cm of snow from the system moving until Thursday afternoon and Friday night.

Kenora, Dryden, and Sioux Lookout will also be under a winter storm warning from Environment Canada with heavy snow accumulations expected Friday morning.
