The Senegalese police reported that security forces thwarted a terrorist attack attempt in the capital city of Dakar yesterday, Friday, and arrested 11 people suspected of being involved in the case.

The police public relations office highlighted in a statement that urban security, aided by information indicating that a person "manufactured sharp iron spikes in preparation for terrorist acts in Dakar," arrested 11 individuals suspected of involvement in the attempted terrorist attack.

The same source clarified that the first suspect left the "Kaolack area located in the center of the country" yesterday, riding a motorcycle and carrying a large quantity of iron spikes prepared to carry out terrorist acts in Dakar on Friday.

It added that "the iron spikes, gasoline, and other materials used in making Molotov cocktail bottles were set to be distributed to cells in neighborhoods of Dakar."

It is worth mentioning that two people were killed and five others were injured on August 1st of this year, as a result of an attack with a Molotov cocktail targeting a minibus of the "AFTU" transport network in a popular neighborhood in Dakar.

The public prosecutor in Dakar had confirmed that the initial data from the investigation into this attack "indicates that this is a terrorist attack."
