Air Canada and Pearson Airport in Toronto again occupied the first place in flight delays on Tuesday, after at least four consecutive days of delays where the country's largest airline ranked first among any major airline worldwide.
Air Canada saw 65 percent of its flights delayed, while Jazz Aviation, which provides regional service for the Montreal-based carrier, and Air Canada Rouge ranked second and third respectively, according to the FlightAware tracking service.
On the other hand, only one airline, Virgin Australia, landed more than half of its flights late.
Meanwhile, Air Canada's main hub was the only airport worldwide that saw more than half of its departing flights delayed.
The airport authority said in an email that Montreal ranked tenth after a failure of the baggage screening computer system forced it to manually process luggage, noting that other factors also played a role and that domestic flights were the most affected.
It is worth mentioning that airlines and airports are struggling to cope with the massive travel influx, as staffing issues at carriers and federal agencies become more complex, leading to flight cancellations, baggage delays, and endless waiting lists.
