Health officials in Ontario reported no new COVID-19 deaths for the first time since early April. The total number of deaths from the novel coronavirus in Ontario remained unchanged on Monday, with the total number of deaths at 12,842.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 1,423 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 211 in intensive care.

The number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations increased slightly from the previous day, although the data released on Monday is likely underreported, as not all hospitals provide data to the ministry over the weekend.

With just over 11,800 COVID-19 tests processed in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the positivity rate in the province is about 14 percent.

An additional 1,275 laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease were recorded on Monday, although this number is still lower than reality due to a lack of PCR testing.

The numbers used in this story were found in the daily COVID-19 epidemiological summary from the Ontario Ministry of Health. The number of cases for any city or region may vary slightly from what is reported by the province because local units report numbers at different times.
