Data from the Canadian Statistics Office showed an increase in spending on the outbound travel sector during the first quarter of this year by 49%, amounting to 20.6 billion Canadian dollars (16.3 billion US dollars), compared to the same period of the previous year and 24% less than spending during the first quarter of 2020.
Bloomberg News Agency indicated that spending classified as travel financing accounted for about 15% of the services trade balance, compared to 11% in the first quarter of 2021 and 20% in 2020.
At the same time, the Canadian travel sector accounted for about 2.4% of Canada’s total exports of goods and services.
