The Canadian Ministry of Environment said on Saturday that a heat warning is expected in the coming days in the Sudbury area.
Heat warnings were issued in the Greater Sudbury area and the Wanapitei, West Nipissing, French River, Chapleau, Missinipe Lake, Gogama, and Foleyet areas starting Sunday.
These warnings are issued when forecasts for two days rise to 29 degrees Celsius or higher during the day and 18 degrees Celsius or higher at night, or when the humidity level is 36 degrees or higher.
Heat and humidity are expected to continue until midweek. "The most vulnerable people are the elderly, infants and young children, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, the homeless, people who consume alcohol or illegal drugs, and those who work or exercise in the heat."
