Canadian media sources have learned that the federal government will announce this week that vaccine mandates for domestic travel on airplanes and trains, as well as international travel for departing flights, will be suspended.
Senior government sources told CTV News that the announcement will be made on Tuesday and this change will take effect on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, foreign nationals coming to Canada will still need to prove vaccination requirements.
These instructions were first implemented on October 30, 2021, and the government required all passengers on airplanes or trains to be fully vaccinated to be allowed to board the plane.
Currently, the government is under pressure to ease travel restrictions as the volume of travelers increases, with Canadian airports experiencing delays and long queues on travel flights.
