The Canadian Navy announced a new recruitment program that allows citizens and permanent residents to work full-time for one year, without restrictions, before deciding whether to pursue a naval career.
Participants in the Naval Experience Program (NEP) will receive a competitive salary, accommodation, and food, along with basic training in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Esquimalt, British Columbia.
The initiative simplifies the registration process to attract adventure seekers and those open to a unique lifestyle.
Vice Admiral Angus Topshee said in a statement: “The Navy offers Canadians the opportunity to see the world while serving their country, providing stability, job security, benefits, paid education and training, adventure, and more.”
At the end of their contract, NEP participants can choose to continue serving with the Canadian Navy, change their role, or leave without any commitments.
It is also worth noting that the NEP is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents aged between 16 and 57, and applicants under 18 will need parental or guardian permission.
Participants will receive the same wages and benefits as other Canadian Armed Forces personnel, ranging from $3,168 to $4,332 per month.
