Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday, during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the capital Ottawa, a package of aid worth 650 million Canadian dollars.

Trudeau said before the Canadian Parliament that "this aid over three years will include delivering to Kyiv about 50 armored vehicles and training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets."

Zelensky is also scheduled to head, later with Trudeau, to Toronto to hold meetings with business leaders and members of the Ukrainian Canadian community.

As interest in the Ukrainian issue wanes and signs of fatigue from supplying arms emerge amid the clear failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland expressed her concern about support for Kyiv. She stated to CBC Radio: "I am worried about whether our allies will continue to provide steadfast support?... Of course, I am worried."

Canadian aid to Ukraine has so far exceeded 1.3 billion dollars in military assistance, including Leopard 2 tanks, air defense systems, artillery, anti-tank weapons, drones, and other equipment. Canada has also trained more than 36,000 Ukrainian soldiers.

Russia has repeatedly raised the issue of ongoing arms supplies to Ukraine. The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, earlier stated that Moscow would not abandon its efforts to draw the international community's attention, including the United Nations Security Council, to the reality of Western arms flowing to the Kyiv regime.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has warned Western countries against supplying Ukraine with weapons, vowing to destroy them upon arrival in Ukraine or their appearance on the battlefield, having already destroyed the Western tanks and armored vehicles that Kyiv had relied on heavily.
