The public television in China reported on Tuesday that the floods in the capital Beijing have so far resulted in at least 11 deaths and 27 missing persons.
The source indicated that the heavy rains falling on the capital Beijing have claimed 11 lives by 6:00 AM local time on Tuesday (22:00 GMT on Monday).
It added that another 27 people are missing.
The Beijing authorities issued the highest flood warning level on Monday.
A note issued by the authorities stated that large parts of the suburbs of the capital "face the risk of collapses, landslides, and flooding," accompanied by a red flood warning.
The heavy rains resulted from Typhoon Doksuri, which caused at least six deaths in the Philippines.
The tropical storm has impacted northern China since Friday after the typhoon weakened.
The weather service in Beijing reported that 170.9 mm of rain fell on the capital over forty hours between Saturday evening and Monday morning, which is almost equivalent to the average rainfall for the entire month of July.
