Continued warning of a snowstorm in some areas north of Toronto today, Wednesday, with an expected accumulation of more than 15 cm.

The weather warning remains in effect in Oakridge, Beaverton, and the northern Durham region, as well as in Barrie, Orillia, and Midland.

The areas will also experience "heavy snowfall" and "significantly reduced visibility at times" due to the snow.

Gusts are expected early this morning, but the heavier lake-effect snowstorms will develop later this morning and will weaken this evening.

The snowstorms cause significant weather changes; the Canadian Ministry of Environment warned that changes from clear skies to heavy snow just a few kilometers away are common.

They continued, "Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapid snow accumulation may make travel difficult in some places, and if visibility decreases while driving, slow down, watch for brake lights ahead of you, and be prepared to stop."

Toronto will have a very cold start to the day, feeling like -7 this morning with the cold wind. Gusts are expected to begin this afternoon in the city but will subside this evening. The temperature is expected to reach 2 degrees Celsius today.
