The Canadian Statistics Agency said that employment did not change much in November as the economy added a modest 10,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate slightly decreased to 5.1 percent.

RBC also said it expects the economy to have added 5,000 jobs in November while the unemployment rate rose slightly to 5.3 percent from 5.2 percent in the previous month.

The bank is also preparing for the next interest rate decision on Wednesday. The central bank governor, Tiff Macklem, described the unemployment rate in Canada as unsustainable, saying that it contributes to rising inflation.
