Peel Regional Police said a man's body was found following an industrial accident in Mississauga on Friday.
Emergency crews also responded to the Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road area shortly after 3:30 p.m. following reports of flooding at the work site.
Fire teams were alerted to a worker trapped in an underground tunnel as water rose rapidly, with police saying all workers got out safely except for one.
Work crews continued operating until the early hours of Saturday to find the missing worker, where police stated a 54-year-old man was found and declared dead at the scene.
Also, it was reported that the Minister of Labour is investigating the matter. The cause of the leak is unclear, but police told CP24 that a pipe burst on the day water and sewage system improvements were underway in the area.
Roads in the area were closed but reopened after the incident.
