The Toronto Public Health says there are two new suspected cases of monkeypox in the city, in addition to another possible case of the virus under investigation.

The agency says all three cases are men, two in their thirties and one in her twenties, and they are currently in good health.

According to the agency, one of the three men traveled to Montreal and was in contact with the first suspected case, and Toronto Public Health said it was investigating the matter over the weekend.

Monkeypox is a rare disease from the same family of viruses that cause smallpox, which the World Health Organization declared eradicated worldwide in 1980.

Public health officials added that the risk posed by monkeypox is low.
