The conservatives are ahead by just one point over the liberals amid growing concerns about Trump – Nanos poll

Published: March 11, 2025

A recent survey conducted by the "Nanos" research firm shows that the Canadian Conservative Party holds a slight one-point lead over the Liberal Party, amid growing concerns among voters about the potential impact of former U.S. President Donald Trump's victory in the upcoming presidential elections.

According to the survey results, the Conservative Party garnered a support rate of 34%, while the Liberal Party received 33%, reflecting a slight decline in the Conservatives' lead compared to previous weeks. The survey noted that rising levels of anxiety regarding Trump's possible return to power have contributed to an increase in support for the Liberal Party, as more voters expressed fears about the political and economic repercussions for Canada in the event of his victory.

For his part, Nanos Research Director Nik Nanos stated: “There are clear signs that the growing concern over Trump's impact on foreign policy and the Canadian economy is reshaping the political landscape, with some voters rallying around the Liberals.”

This survey comes at a sensitive time for the Liberal government led by Justin Trudeau, which is facing increasing political and economic challenges ahead of the upcoming federal elections.
